"Stranded in Berlin during the 2020 lockdowns, I used the isolation to deepen my analytics capabilities—studying BI tools remotely with my former partner while the world stood still. That year of forced focus became the bridge between my Brussels data career and what came next: rebuilding failing restaurants into revenue-positive systems, opening a Marriott flagship bar for the Basketball Hall of Fame, and eventually returning to China to launch Digidell. The through-line has always been the same: read the data, trust the process, build what works."

Served as data analyst on KONE's annual CRM project, analyzing call center data for one of the world's largest elevator and escalator manufacturers. Over 10 years, processed and classified service calls across multiple global markets (including China and US portfolios after 2013) into four critical categories: Entrapment, Hazard, Injury, and Normal operations.
Delivered structured intelligence enabling KONE to identify patterns in safety-critical incidents, optimize maintenance scheduling, and improve response protocols across their global installed base. Project scope expanded significantly after 2013 when responsibility for China and US markets was added to the portfolio.
Project transitioned to IBM Watson analytics platforms circa 2022 for AI-enhanced advancement. Former partner: Colin Sanders, founder of Attentio and 365 Analytics (now Indiville).
As data analyst, contributed to analytics audit packages for Delta Lloyd (now NN Group), one of the Netherlands' largest insurance and financial services providers. Project focused on structuring and analyzing operational data to support internal audit functions, risk assessment protocols, and compliance reporting.
Work aligned with Delta Lloyd's risk management framework, providing data-driven insights for actuarial review and operational risk measurement across their insurance and pension portfolios.
As data analyst for a private Brussels-based political intelligence group, conducted sentiment analysis and engagement tracking across early social media platforms to model voter behavior ahead of European MP elections. Leveraged Obama's 2008/2012 digital campaign architecture as a reference framework for understanding how online sentiment translates to electoral outcomes.
Data sources included Twitter, Facebook, Google Blogspot, MySpace, plus comment sections from The New York Times, The Washington Post, and major European news outlets. Coverage spanned 7 markets: Belgium, Germany, Spain, France, Italy, Netherlands, and the UK. Core methodology focused on sentiment classification, cross-referencing engagement metrics (likes, shares, retweets, comment velocity), and identifying correlation patterns between online discourse intensity and polling movement.
Delivered structured intelligence on message resonance, candidate momentum indicators, and regional sentiment divergence—enabling the group to anticipate swing dynamics and optimize resource allocation across parliamentary constituencies.
Conducted sentiment analysis examining public perception of European cigarette smoking bans (2011–2012) and emerging vaping/e-cigarette alternatives. Project focused on understanding whether consumers viewed vaping as a legitimate smoking replacement, a separate category, or an unknown quantity—rather than assuming clean substitution effects.
Findings were inconclusive and mixed: sentiment revealed significant confusion rather than clear preference patterns. Most consumers were unfamiliar with vaping technology, uncertain about indoor usage regulations, skeptical of safety claims, and unaware of nicotine content differences. The data pointed not to a ready market shift but to a consumer education gap—policy had moved faster than public understanding.
Delivered intelligence emphasizing that vaping adoption was constrained by information asymmetry, not merely regulatory opportunity. Recommended stakeholder strategy focused on clarity and education rather than assuming automatic habit migration from smoking to vaping.
Purchased BB Funk Jazz Club on Ziwelu (紫纬路) in Chongqing upon return in 2024. The venue serves as dual-purpose operational base: daytime workspace for data analysis, client meetings, and Digidell business development; evening jazz lounge maintaining revenue-positive hospitality operations.
Functions as a living case study in operational efficiency—applying the same inventory forecasting, customer analytics, and staff optimization learned from the Japanese restaurant and Marriott projects to a smaller, agile venue. Clients meet here. Coffee is roasted on-site. Work happens in the same space where hospitality runs.
Recruited as Operations Director and General Manager for a struggling Japanese bar and restaurant. Inherited a failing operational model and rebuilt it from the ground up—starting with the bar, where my F&B expertise began. Restructured inventory systems, retrained staff, redesigned customer flow, and implemented data-driven menu engineering.
Key interventions: inventory forecasting to reduce waste and stockouts; customer analytics to identify high-margin items and peak demand windows; staff scheduling optimization to match labor costs with revenue curves. Result: transitioned from loss-making to revenue-positive within operational cycle. Managed through 2024 before returning to China.
Recruited by Marriott to open Bridge 22 Bar & Resto at the Downtown Springfield Marriott for the annual Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame event—the hotel's highest-profile annual scenario. Designed the complete beverage program from scratch: original signature cocktails (all originals, no templates), curated wine book, full drink menu architecture.
Extended beyond menu design into spatial and operational design: assisted in final bar layout, trained all front-of-house staff to Marriott Brand Standards, and established service protocols calibrated for high-volume, high-expectation event hospitality. Maintained and elevated hospitality standards through the event cycle and beyond.
Stranded in Berlin for nearly all of 2020 due to pandemic lockdowns. Unable to operate hospitality venues or travel, used the isolation to rebuild technical capabilities: worked remotely with former Brussels partner Colin Sanders (Indiville) on business intelligence projects while completing intensive self-study through Udemy in analytics tools, data visualization, and modern BI platforms.
This period functioned as an unplanned sabbatical—translating 2011-era social media analytics experience into contemporary tool fluency. Returned to the US in 2021 with refreshed technical stack and immediate application opportunity: the Japanese restaurant turnaround and subsequent Marriott recruitment both leveraged the operational precision and data-informed decision-making honed during this interval.
Recruited as Operations Director and General Manager for a struggling Japanese bar and restaurant in the US. Inherited a failing operational model and rebuilt it from the ground up—starting with the bar, where my F&B expertise originated.
Implemented data-driven inventory management, demand forecasting for perishable goods, staff scheduling optimization, and customer flow analytics. Restructured the beverage program, renegotiated supplier contracts based on consumption patterns, and trained front-of-house staff on upselling metrics tied to inventory velocity. Result: revenue-positive operations within the first year, sustained through 2024.
This operational turnaround directly informed Digidell City's approach to autonomous service systems—understanding that technology deployment fails without operational infrastructure, staff training protocols, and real-time demand management.
Recruited by the General Manager as Opening Bar Manager to launch Bridge 22 Bar & Resto at the Downtown Springfield Marriott for the annual Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame events. Tasked with opening the venue and managing the F&B department.
Designed the bar program: original signature cocktails, curated wine book, full drink menu. Assisted in bar layout and setup. Trained all bar and service staff to Marriott Brand Standards. Managed F&B operations during high-volume, high-profile Hall of Fame events hosted at the property.
This project demonstrated the ability to build operational systems from zero under enterprise brand constraints—directly applicable to smart city infrastructure deployment, where vendor standards, staff training, and event-scale logistics mirror hospitality operations at city scale.
